It came down to the last ride on Sunday, and Guilherme Marchi did not disappoint. The 2008 Professional Bull Riders World Champion brought the crowd to its feet with an 89.5-point ride on Too Sexy (Bad Company Rodeo Co. Inc./Cody Ohl) to win the PBR Built Ford Tough Series Anaheim Invitational presented by Full Metal Jousting on HISTORY.

Marchi finished with 351.25 points, 1.75 points ahead of runner-up Austin Meier, who had moved into the lead on the second-to-last ride with 89 points on Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo). Marchi, who finished first in the Built Ford Tough Short Round on Saturday and in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round on Sunday, earned $43,075 for the win. He moved from 26th to third in the Built Ford Tough Series standings with 1,032 points. Meier, who was the only other rider to ride all four of his bulls on the weekend, jumped from tied for 32nd in the BFTS standings to fifth with 899.5 points.

Asteroid (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo) made his season debut on Sunday, and won the Pabst Blue Ribbon Bull Award for being the high-marked bull of the event. The runner-up for PBR World Champion Bull in 2011 scored 46.75 points after bucking off Douglas Duncan in the championship round. Asteroid had two of the Top 10 bull scores in 2011, and was the high-marked bull at four consecutive events in Tulsa, San Antonio, Springfield, Mo., and Milwaukee.

Valdiron de Oliveira rode three of four bulls to finish third in the event with 249 points, and move into first place in the BFTS standings with 1,513 points. Oliveira was ranked first in the world standings for 17 of the first 19 weeks in 2011, including 16 weeks in a row.

The PBR World Champion is determined by the most BFTS points earned throughout the season, and at the World Finals.

Ty Pozzobon finished fifth in the event with 175.25 points, and is fourth in the season standings. Justin Koon finished fourth in the event, and is ranked ninth in the BFTS standings.

CBS Sports Network will broadcast Sunday’s action on Sunday at 11 p.m. ET. It will also be rebroadcast on Monday at 1 a.m. ET, and 9 p.m. ET.

The BFTS will travel up the West Coast to Oregon for the Portland Invitational at the Rose Quarter on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 6 p.m. PT, and Sunday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. PT. Tickets are available at the Rose Quarter box office, www.ComcastTix.com, and by telephone at (877) 789-7376.

The BFTS features the best, highest-paid bull riders on the planet, including current PBR World Champion Silvano Alves, who reached $1 million faster than any rider in history, earning $1.8 million in his first 18 months.

Anaheim is the second stop on the BFTS, which opened the 2012 season on Jan. 6-8 with capacity crowds at Madison Square Garden in New York. The BFTS will make 28 stops in 23 states before the Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 24-28, 2012. The World Finals are where the PBR World Champion will be crowned and awarded the coveted Championship Buckle and a $1 million bonus. The richest bull riding event in the world, the World Finals has a total purse of more than $2 million.

The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network, NBC, NBC Sports Network, and YouTube. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
